Chris Walters
Chris is an academic by background and, probably by inclination but loves to apply his skill and knowledge to real world business issues. He spent twenty years at Gas Strategies, a management consultancy focused on the gas and LNG industry, establishing and running its infrastructure practice. He has worked with some of the world’s largest investment funds and infrastructure companies on numerous multi-billion dollar deals including Brookfield on its acquisition of a stake in CQP, Ontario Teachers on ADNOC gas pipelines and Enagas on Tallgrass Energy.
For the last five years Chris has also had a focus on the energy transition seeking to understand and explain the potential future pathways for our energy system. Latterly that has led to him advising clients on both the huge opportunities that the energy transition represents and the risks to their existing fossil fuel businesses. Chris knows that while we cannot be certain about the future, we can build meaningful scenarios to guide our actions based on detailed research, good analysis and informed conversations with people within and outside our industry.
Chris is never happier than when he is in an airport, travelling somewhere new to meet new people - he spent some of his childhood in Saudi Arabia, studied languages, did a PhD in the History of the Ecuadorean Textile Industry in the 17th century (don’t ask!) and has worked on projects in countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
